Things to Change/Keep for next year's big trip:
- Bring only one (big) propane stove for whole camp.
- Bring one 5 gal. propane tank.
- Propane tower/splitter for lanterns.
- One lantern per rig.
- Coffee thermos per coffee drinker.
- Cordless drill w/wood screws.
- Extra rope for repelling/body recovery (not veh. rope).
- Gatorade/Poweraid instead of bottled water.
- NO big store-bought jugs of water (remember how many leaked).
- Hard shell water Jerry Cans instead.
- Garbage bags.
- Soft rifle cases.
- Professionally tune CB's prior to trip.
- Bring less guns (I know, sounds stupid, but do you really need 5+ plinkers?).
- Sun screen.
- ONLY compression sleeping bags (this one is for David aka Wang).
- NO pillows.
- No glass containers (salsa, pasta sauce, etc.).
- More pasta meals (easy to make, 2 lbs feeds 7 guys).
- Legs for the Bumper Dumper.
- Nick's truck awning (maybe).
- Decals/rockers/ducks before trip.
- Water-proof all materials (tents/bags/cases) before trip.
- BLM maps w/trails marked before trip. (Remember to plan alt. route also).
- Truck cooler inside each rig.
- Less fuel (avg. 5 gal. per day) w/nearby towns ever 2 days.
"Where in the Duck are We? 4x4 Club" was founded in 2005 on the snowy trails near Butte Meadows, CA. The founding members were "lost," had little in the way of a plan or destination, and found an out-of-place duck decoy in the snow drifts. The club was born with the idea that all you need is basic four wheel drive, a few days out of the year and some buddies to have fun and escape the daily grind. Members are a loose group of trail wheeling and back country enthusiasts. We meet once a year for The Trip; five days in your rig with three of those days off-road.
