"Where in the Duck are We? 4x4 Club" was founded in 2005 on the snowy trails near Butte Meadows, CA. The founding members were "lost," had little in the way of a plan or destination, and found an out-of-place duck decoy in the snow drifts. The club was born with the idea that all you need is basic four wheel drive, a few days out of the year and some buddies to have fun and escape the daily grind. Members are a loose group of trail wheeling and back country enthusiasts. We meet once a year for The Trip; five days in your rig with three of those days off-road.

Quick Update

Added a slide show for Broken Freedom, Sierra Nevada, 2015 to the left side of the website.

Also, our loose plans for this year's (2016) trip is to drive north west from CA into the Gerlach, NV area.  Then we'll head toward the southern trail head of High Rock Canyon immigrant trail, which will lead us to its exit in the mid-west portion of the Black Rock Desert.  See the youtube video link below for that trail:

We hope to base camp near the mid section of the Black Rock Desert; which leaves us with over 100 miles of open flat playa to explore over several days.  As a backup (in case the playa is impassable), we can always shoot up around the desert to the Lovelock area and out to Seven Trough's, where we have played in the past.  there is TONS of empty public land out there, so expect a laid back, fun trip.  Still, plan for the worst and bring appropriate gear for any condition!
