"Where in the Duck are We? 4x4 Club" was founded in 2005 on the snowy trails near Butte Meadows, CA. The founding members were "lost," had little in the way of a plan or destination, and found an out-of-place duck decoy in the snow drifts. The club was born with the idea that all you need is basic four wheel drive, a few days out of the year and some buddies to have fun and escape the daily grind. Members are a loose group of trail wheeling and back country enthusiasts. We meet once a year for The Trip; five days in your rig with three of those days off-road.

"Stuck in Nye, Nye Co. NV, 2012"
I know this post is a little late since the Trip has been over for a month more or so, but we've all been busy with our mundane lives when not in the back-country. This year's Trip went great! The final head count was eleven guys, four vehicles. We had our first Club roll-over and injury; ask Justin Peters to tell you the story. We covered over 1200 miles this year and rarely dropped below 6-8k ft elevation. Everyone had a fun time and we spent the majority of our free time at the White Cap Mines, concluding the final two days of the Trip. The "official" name for this year's trip was decided to be "Stuck in Nye, Nye Co. 2012." It was a year of stucks for most of the rigs. It was also the first year we got to use a lot of recovery gear and test our patience and knowledge helping each other get up the snowy/muddy trails to the next ghost town. A Club meet should be happening soon, hopefully toward the middle of May in Lakeport, CA. There has also been talk of a local one-nighter Club run/camp out somewhere on Cow Mt., CA. Nick Moranda is slowly piecing together the hours of raw CB chatter he recorded this year, which will be added to this years movie. Check back here for it to be posted.
